About the Artist

I am a self-taught oil painter, creative writer, member of the U.S. Army, and a current graduate student at Columbia University

I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in a blended family with four parents and five siblings. Growing up, I was heavily influenced by my tight knit family, the strong women who raised me, and the hard working members of my family. I often spent weekends at the family horse ranch near Tipton, Iowa, or in Cedar Rapids at my Nanna’s house with friends and cousins.

I currently live in the gritty and gorgeous New York City with my 9-year-old Boston Terrier, Penelope, and 14-year-old rescue cat, Lotto.

Creating is not something I like to do, it is something I must do.

For as long as I can remember I’ve had a paintbrush or pencil in my hand. i’ve always had a passion for art & architectural design. The process of creating brings me incomparable joy. Each piece that finds a collectors home offers more opportunities to share my gift with the world and keep creating!

I was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to a hard working and loving family. I was raised by a family that encouraged creative expression from a young age, supporting me with the tools to explore art early on.

I took a long break from art after high school and it wasn’t until the summer of 2021 that I began exploring my love of the arts again. I had returned from a year long deployment in Iraq and found painting created a calmness in me I hadn’t realized I needed. I found myself drifting into art for hours at a time. After over a decade away I started back from scratch, self-teaching until I finally got into oils. My distinctive style flourished in the later part of 2022, evolving into large scale, bold and energetic conversation pieces inspired by my love of vibrant colors and freedom of expression.

My art can be seen in homes throughout the country by the amazing people who have become collectors and also at the Kurt Youngblood Framing and Art Gallery in San Antonio, Texas. My hope as an artist is to continue sharing my art with those it speaks to and to inspire those who have a desire to create.

Art became a therapeutic form of expression following military service. Many organizations and businesses continue to support service members and veterans, many of which I’ve taken part of or benefit from. I am honored to be associated with them, and support when I am able through donated pieces.

Donated art: Duskin & Stephens Foundation annual charity events (2022, 2023) ; Big Sky Bravery annual charity event (2023) ; Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko. (BHAWK) (2024)
